Only the Aft Deployed Instrument Radiator and the two mirror sides left to deploy now before we start focusing the mirror! (It also still needs to cool down for a few more months but we are inching closer to those first photos!)

CONFIRMED: “The world’s most sophisticated tripod” has not only deployed but also latched! Each of the struts for this tripod, which helps ’s secondary mirror direct light into the instruments, is about 25 feet long (7.6 m)!

Following a successful deployment test of Webb’s secondary mirror, technicians and engineers in cleanroom suits visually inspect the tripod-like support structure that holds it in place.

This is the final image taken by one of the most legendary spacecraft of all time. Cassini's voyage to explore Saturn lasted over 19 years, with 13 of them spent orbiting the ringed giant. Cassini captured the hearts of many, and inspired the world in it's discoveries.

It’s such a shame Shuttle-Centaur never flew. It was likely a pathway technology to enable lunar landings through the shuttle and on orbit assembly.

While not perfect 1 to 1 comparisons, it's amazing to watch the deployments of the James Webb Space Telescope and the Hubble Space Telescope (STS-125) side by side. These two instruments, launched more than 30 years apart, will continue to unveil the secrets of our cosmos.

The mission number is somewhat based on the NASA variant used from 1984-1986, but with the last two digits of the year used instead of just the last digit. STS (Space Transportation System) 97 (1997) 1 (KSC Launch) C (Third manifested launch for that year)

This tweet was made entirely because I got bored and wanted to make something related to For All Mankind. This mission obviously never happened and is not meant to be taken seriously. The two source images are from the Apollo 11 and STS-132.
