Fifty-five years ago -- on #BloodySunday -- non-violent civil rights advocates in Selma were attacked while demonstrating in support of voting rights, and opposing segregation. This group included my friend, colleague and a giant in the House, Rep. John Lewis.
I will never forget the profound experience of joining Congressman Lewis and my wife Lacey as we marched across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in commemoration of Bloody Sunday. Our work to protect civil rights, voting rights and oppose injustice continues. #Selma55
