Looks like the source of the petrol smell is a fuel leak at the New Paltz university where there is a reservoir.
The Village of New Paltz remains under a "do not drink" water advisory. I encourage New Paltz residents and students to use an abundance of caution regarding the water supply.

Thankfully Gov Cuomo provided technical support with DEC who executed wonderfully identifying the problem and implementing specialists to resolve the water issue. Bravo!
