Americans continue to die from horrific gun violence & we can’t even get the Senate to hold a vote on #HR8, a bipartisan universal background checks bill.
Passing universal background checks is supported by more than 90% of Americans. While not a cure-all that would've stopped every shooting, it provides an urgently needed step towards improved gun safety amid the gun violence epidemic -a public health crisis- in the U.S.
To not come together and at least take this basic step in the face of so much loss of life, is to reveal that our system is morally bankrupt. #EnoughisEnough

Congressman, please call for a ban on all assault weapons! I know. NY 19 is a rural, gun toting district but we will support you and we will get you re-elected!
Funding needs to be increased to study gun violence. It may be possible to establish links in these murderers to better profile and prevent it from happening.
But #HR8 isnt just about background checks. While I'm in favor of the bill I dont like the additional forms and travel to a gun shop just to have my guns kept safe by a friend while I'm out of town. Nor do I like that for any such transaction, there wont be a cap on fees charged
