That's why I voted for increased humanitarian aid to provide food, water & shelter for asylum seekers arriving at our southern border along with stronger standards for care of children held in these facilities & new accountability provisions for the contractors caring for them.
This bill will help meet the temporary needs of asylum seekers at our border, but it is not a longterm solution. We still need to come together in a bipartisan way, putting aside the hateful & divisive rhetoric, and work towards passing comprehensive immigration reform.
Interestingly, Sullivan County (SC) landscapers for example, cannot find anyone to hire to help them hard-scape, lawn care, etc, painters need help, farmers need help, SC is a nice community and asylum seekers could find good homes and jobs, if only...
Please don’t give them any more money. They just spend it on the wall and private prison orgs. Please just legislate that they use the funds they already have on hygiene, and on closing their discretion how the funds will be spent.
