Faso's desire to confirm a judge pre-screened by the Heritage Foundation - a group that is demonstrably in opposition to Roe v. Wade - is not surprising, considering that he himself has called Roe v. Wade a "black mark on the country."
What is surprising and very concerning, however, is his belief that Judge Kavanaugh ought to be confirmed for a lifetime appointment on the highest court in the land, prior to the conclusion of a thorough and serious investigation into Dr. Ford's allegations of sexual assault -
- allegations that Faso has acknowledged were credibly testified to by Dr. Ford during the hearings. Notably, Faso has taken this position while other Republicans, in a bi-partisan manner, have called for an investigation, and they were successful in getting one.
Faso is extreme on this issue, even within his own party.
