"Despite years of data and warnings from educators and historians about the dangers posed by this lack of civics education, our system continues to fail Americans in this regard." Great read by @laurenleaderAIThttps://thehill.com/opinion/white-house/533642-we-cant-ignore-alarms-about-the-need-for-civics-education-any-longer …

You want a civics lesson, read the work of Walter Lipman and Edward Bernays. "governing must be left to responsible men" "beware of the roar of the bewildered herd." The system has been against true democracy since the beginning. If that ain't the bewildered herd IDK what is.

See, you said “read.” That’s kind of a non starter for most trumpsters.

It is not a matter of understanding, it is a matter of feeling rules do not apply to you. Case in point, congresspeople who do not willingly walk through metal detectors... Oh, and they MIGHT be ignorant, too... but there is much more to it.

The lack? This was intentional policy by Republicans and DeVos that con't to push Charter schools and legal reforms allowing schools to remove "unnecessary" curriculum including civics, in addition to STEM subjects. Get real. This was by design to dumb down future electorate.pic.twitter.com/vtozEE8ZH1

“Social studies” is what happens when powerful people in charge of state curricula water down history (world as well as American), and chip away at geography, civics, and personal economics from our curricula in order to keep people poorly educated and more controllable.

I think certain parts of the South still try keep science out of education or ideas that don't support their Confederate dream.
