I mean when 99% of them agree on something, yea I assume it’s true. Anti-intellectualism is a cancer on society; when people have dedicated their whole lives to a field, they know better than a layperson.

If we let a guy out of jail and he murders someone in a robbery but doesn’t get corona is that a win for public health. Doctors are notoriously myopic and only care about their specialty. They keep dying people alive longer than they need to be, prolonging their suffering.

You’re operating on the assumption that that is a likely scenario. There is a much higher chance that someone will get corona AND die in jail/prison, then there is that a released prisoner is going to murder someone. It’s pure willie Hortonism to think otherwise.

Release 1000 prisoners and something bad will happen. Pick 1000 people at random and one of them will do something terrible. Those people didn’t wind up in jail by accident. Have you ever met someone with a low iq and almost no impulse control?

Yes, but you’re also now perpetuating myths about a ton of people. When someone is in custody, they have the right to safe and sterile housing; no one should be put at more risk for this simply because they’re imprisoned. (There are also a ton of low risk people in prison/jail).

That’s not how it’s supposed to be, that’s what we’ve allowed it to become. Also consider that the US incarcerates more people, and for longer sentences than any other developed country, yet our crime and recidivism rates remain higher. You can’t jail your way to public safety.

How is the place we warehouse the most violent and stupid people “supposed to be”? Listen to yourself. It’s the people in jail that make it terrible. If you’re using Europe as an example I’ll remind you that state sponsored genocide was the law 80 years ago.

Listen to yourself, man. “Warehouse”. Again, I don’t really care how bad criminals are, they are entitled to basic hygiene and healthcare while incarcerated. I’d also like to remind you that that was law in Nazi Germany, and is obviously not the law now.

You don’t care how bad criminals are, there it is, that’s everything. Let’s see how much you don’t care when your family is threatened. Good luck in college dumb shit. Don’t forget the Netherlands they were more than eager to collab with Mr. H.

Lmao really good retort to data, man. A+ argument skills when you just have to resort to name calling. When it comes down to it, I don’t support victimizing people based on outlier cases, and I understand the state’s responsibilities when someone is in custody.
