The CEO called me, apologized and basically told me what the email from the accounts payable already said and also brought up the law firm I used to work saying that's Salon's lawyer so that felt a bit like an intimidation and asked what I would do to 'rectify the situation'?

I'VE BEEN PAID BY SALON. Moral of the story: If a company commissions work, they must pay you for it. Your payment is from a client is not contingent upon them receiving payment from their client. Forgive me for any unsolicited advice, but you can sue in small claims court for unpaid invoices. Friends have recovered even small fees that way, because filing cost is cheap.
