  4. That's great! Sometimes I view the phrase "spoiler alert" as a bit of a talisman - just a way to keep people from complaining when I talk about a plot twist that they should have seen months ago when it originally aired. LOL.

  6. Excited to be joining WNPR's Where We Live this morning at about 9 a.m. EST to talk Fall TV and spend a little time on the end of new episodes for the longest running children's show on U.S. television, PBS' Arthur.

Had great fun speaking w/ SF Chronicle on why Limited Series category might have better projects than Oscars Best Picture race (psst...Emmy academy...time to increase number of nominations from 5 to 8, like other big categories!). Check it here:

More and more, today's times feels like a virus disaster movie where the doctors move heaven and earth to find a vaccine and just as the credits should be rolling on their victory...one third of the country refuses to take the antidote.

I think it's important to get the facts, which aren't that tough to find. We are a non profit; many of our financial documents are public records. And whenever the debate over financing of public media resurfaces, we show the same facts.

You may have missed the initial answer which started this conversation. But I said then we are PUBLIC media, supported by donations and fees from member stations. Even member stations overall get an average 12% of revenue from gov’t sources.

NPR only gets 1 percent. But our member stations, which are important sources of local information, get and need more federal support. Especially stations in mostly rural states like Alaska, where the public radio station is crucial and there are fewer media alternatives.

Had great fun visiting Pop Culture Happy Hour podcast to talk about Brooklyn Nine Nine's final season, including Andre Braugher's amazing comedy chops and the question of whether a cop comedy can still work after a global reckoning on police brutality.

This is the anti-science nonsense we’re dealing with in Florida…

As someone who had to perform that awful duty - eulogizing a parent - last year, I’m sure you did it just right. Condolences, my friend.

I can come close. My formative years as a drummer were spent learning Rush’s Moving Pictures and his solo from Exit…Stage Left.

When I reached out to David Simon within minutes of hearing about Michael K. Williams' death, he was too gutted to connect. But in his tribute written for the NYTimes, spells out exactly what made Michael K. the best character actor around.

I wouldn’t assume they think that. I think they know that it mobilizes the kind of people they want to reach - and want to distrust NPR - whether it is true or not.
