I don't see why we measure preference for "good genes" as that for "masculine bodies". Aren't we silently imposing our own, probably wrong or limited, ideas of good genes? A better experiment would try to detect ANY preference shifts around ovulation...
...including social status, race, nationality, age, etc. Only if that search comes up with nothing, I would call this a convincing refutation.
i sat through an entire talk by him years ago thinking that he was saying that we had evolved mechanisms to detect cheetahs. maybe that confusion is a UK thing

Interesting! I've witnessed ev.psychologist making their hypothesis untouchable even tough the predictions repeatedly fail. Great to see someone actually acknowledge the data that goes the other way around as well.
