@DegenRolf
I love ur posts. Do u do any vetting of the QUALITY of the research?
Peer reviewed? Large enough n, etc? (even peer reviewed is no guarantee of quality but it's a start).
BTW, this is a problem for non academics in general : is this good Reasearch?

I find peer reviewed of lesser importance, it fails so often, I love to incite post peer review. I prefer good methods, sound theoretical integration, but also interesting, enlightening, provoking or just silly results.

So the best way to combat trolls is to pretend to enjoy it?
-
If they’re the type that is truly enjoying it sadistically that might just encourage it further, like you’re playing into their game. With those it’s probably best to not reward them in any way, just don’t respond. You don’t deserve to be the object of their twisted pleasure.

It reminds me of a joke: A masochist, bonded Asks a sadist: Will you hit me and let me feel the pain? And the sadist said: No.

Point is ,it is online not Real Life.

Have you looked at using Bartles Taxonomy as a axes of perceived personal status sorting? If not, I think it provides a useful way of looking at how people determine local role models in multiplayer contexts. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bartle_taxonomy_of_player_types&ved=2ahUKEwi66KPLrfPaAhXCp1kKHdOjDxsQFjADegQIBxAB&usg=AOvVaw3cV0MLTrdo7e5a8Y0UzMIJ …

Most trolling is sarcasm, but it can also be witty. The author doesn't clarify what trolling is, by giving examples. Also, many who are trolled deserve to be, since they have taken advantage of their own authority. Worthless report.

"the fact they do so in judging others misbehavior strongly suggests that they do so in judging their own behavior" They seem to have missed a step. Also "That link with sadism also holds for other past-times[sic] involving virtual cruelty: For example, violent video gaming"
