I'd like to see a survey that tests the support for Lady Thatcher's portrayal of liberals who want to enhance equality by making everyone poorer. Ask would they prefer today's level of wealth, with top 20% having 30% of wealth, or DOUBLE the wealth, with top 20% having 50%? /1

That is, instead of having 70% of 100 (70), under 2nd scenario poor would have 50% of 200 (100), making them 43% better off in absolute terms. Of course, top 20% would also have 100, making them 2.3 times better off. I suspect vast majority would go for less equality. /2

And let's be real, If I were in an experiment testing my sense of equity, I would most certainly want to behave in such a way to prove myself the best sort of chap. When in reality, without anyone looking, I'd take the slice that appeared slightly larger. Or had more pepperoni.
