Interesting. What the study fails to mention is what percentage of daily alcohol consumers survive to 69-70 versus non-alcohol consumers. Could be that the former is a thinned out herd of only the strongest, while the later contains members who survive only due to health habits.

I started drinking more after being exposed to more responsibility in the workforce and more physical output. That may be the causation. Liquid calories just make it easier to maintain oneself.
