Don’t you feel inspired, Brent? Because that’s what it’s all about
The funny thing is that Fanelli himself has provided lots of good evidence for a crisis in his previous work. But now he’s like a hipster, sneering about a band he used to love as soon as they got famous.
Yeah, I recognised the name and thought "huh?".
Me too. Seems to me that the piece is largely about how the whole saga should be framed, and what "crisis" means (is it getting worse? Is it sudden/new?)
Found this odd, though: "However, to the best of my knowledge, there is no alternative analysis that suggests that P-hacking is severely distorting the scientific literature"
It makes that error multiple times, interpreting an absence of evidence as evidence of absence. It's almost as if scientists don't really police themselves very thoroughly.
It's almost as if rhetoric is the default human mode of argument, which can only be overridden by dint of enormous effort and a lab coat.
Thomas F. Pettigrew actually just expressed a similar view. All is good and well.http://journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1177/0146167218756033 …
