Contrary to women, men still convert higher income and status into greater reproductive success in industrialized nations. http://www.oxfordhandbooks.com/view/10.1093/oxfordhb/9780190299323.001.0001/oxfordhb-9780190299323-e-29 …pic.twitter.com/7369Cq8WZQ

Also, men in industrialized nations still convert higher income and status into a greater number of sex partners and acts. https://www.cambridge.org/core/journals/behavioral-and-brain-sciences/article/cultural-and-reproductive-success-in-industrial-societies-testing-the-relationship-at-the-proximate-and-ultimate-levels/F4BC3086E2AF8ED56FE0AB88E173E97F …pic.twitter.com/XowOjUm4TF

If I'm reading it correctly, women who seek personal advancement not only are less likely to reproduce, but they also make it less likely that lower-status men will reproduce. And that's where the decline comes from, despite continued reproductive success by high status men.

There has also been a decline in psychological well-being, an increase in anxiety and depression, among men and women, but especially among women. It would be interesting to see those numbers broken down by economics, education and sex.

A lot of people are not able to interpret articles like that. 1) Having more children is not an advantage for a woman 2) Women tend to choose men with higher income and status because that's the best criteria to choose a male. Making sure he has something to offer. Biology.

A lot of people apparently, because that could be a component of the so called "wage gap", ie men have very important reasons to make more money/status.

This means that 1) your reproductive ability is not significantly enhanced by access to more resources. 2) reproducing hampers further success and may erode the success you already have made.

Contrary to what womens' magazines tell you, you CANNOT have it all. If you want executive roles you must make a choice. Men also have to make the same choice.

DegenRolf’s tweet indicate that, no; men *don’t* have to make the same choice. However, beyond the biological part of pregnancy and birth, there is really no reason the choice *shouldn’t* be the same.

In a society of true equal opportunity (not outcome, just opportunity) - the choice would be and mean the same for both genders.

Men cannot carry children. They do not have the opportunity, therefore such a society cannot exist unless there are no men. This is what the feminists want.

No. It means in an equal society the societal expectations of men and women would be the same with regards to children/career. Neither would have an advantage/disadvantage in either direction. That is what “feminism” wants.
