Great paper exposes how the American Psychological Association played up the dangers of violent video games to “sell” itself as the solution to the "problem". https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0160252717301450 …pic.twitter.com/YOs7jxMFu3

Hard to say as I 1) don't regularly follow their recommendations & 2) don't really know what the "consensus" is. But I have seen them making statements that don't comply with the state of the scientific discussion, like here:https://twitter.com/DegenRolf/status/946749307801227264 …

How can this possibly be when it would directly contribute lack of exercise, atrophy of muscles and overall laziness - you barely make it out of the house in the 14 hours you play... I fail to see the baseline...

As has been proven again and again, well at least, earlier, that no obvious correlation to the contrary is an issue. Great find!

He thought the study said playing videogames increased crime, hence the "how could this possibly be". He agreed with the article but misunderstood what the article said. I assume he didn't read it and just misread the title.

Is it possibly because if you are too busy playing games, you dont have ambition to do anything else, including committinh violent crime?

Slaying dragons is lazy?? Gamers are actually the most ambitious members of society. They're bored to tears plodding along in our slow-paced "real" world. How many epic quests have you completed today? ;)
