I think you are completely misrepresenting the authors point, and in doing so, lead one of your followers to respond he wants to punch the guy in his face. Maybe you can put less of your own prejudices, and more of what the author actually writes, in your tweet?

I never realised until he covered on of my own papers that
@DegenRolf’s summaries are highly selective quotes, not the abstract. - 10 more replies

I think it is my special service that I offer people the - in my view - most important passages from the full text which is mostly paywalled. The selection of course is always subjective, but those interested can visit the original.

I don't think anybody wants you to tweet just abstracts (that's what journals would be for if they weren't technologically inept for the most part)! I think your excerpts add a lot of value, most of the time, and could add even more.

There is an overall issue with how to communicate science to the public. On the one hand, new findings are reported by journalists as 100% true (as scientists, we don't want that). On the other hand, rep failures are reported exactly the same >>>

There is clear evidence that the official media almost NEVER report the failed replications of stuff they had trumpeted. I am totally keen on finding and posting failed replications (and retractions).

There is a huge literature on how the general public thinks science works (which often involved the misunderstandings he describes) and he would no doubt agree education is important. Until then, communicate wisely.

Feel free to make this into one of these Twitter storms things where you are so upset about something while misrepresenting someones viewpoint. I'm going back to work on actually improving science.
