That's unfair to the Rorschach, because many of its scores have actual external correlates, unlike the IAT. Even Rorschach critics acknowledge it to be both reliable and valid.

The IAT is awesome and valid if you take it for what it is. It’s a test of associations, not bias. We find consistent predictiveness in our lab for consumer outcomes. Not sure why there’s so much hate. It’s NOT a bias or attitude measure, though.

Re incremental: Actually, one case it may matter more is when decisions are made in < 1 s. Our lab seems to find it is incrementally useful then, but less so for choices people have more time to make.
