If ego depletion would exist, it would make sense to test if it is based on glucose. But that part of the theory has long been discredited. I thought, if true, people who always consume sweets or soda would have most willpower

My theory is that it depends on the two tasks involved, as different types of self-control exhaust different brain areas. Just like physical muscles. e.g. Doing 40 push-ups diminishes my remaining pull-ups energy, but not my squats energy.
