Is there an issue with the study's epistemology/methodology/statistical analysis/conclusion drawing?

Associating social attitudes to genes is simply idiocy.

Hey, I am just a biologist. If you want to talk about genetics or neuroscience, best to speak to a psychologist!

If only in the light of
@DegenRolf 's intervention, it might make sense to tone down the accusations of fascism towards what is after all a simple scientific article1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -

I meant to point out academics' responsibility for stuff they churn out, given how their own politicians might put it in practice. Hungary is a near-fascist state.

Correct me if I'm wrong but given that scientific research is now available internationally, does your reasoning not justify not publishing this type of article in any country? An official in an authoritarian might read it whether it was published at home or on another continent

No, my argument is that detached academics can easily become active henchmen of the regime, when a certain kind of research output gets rewarded, and another sanctioned

In this scheme, is the test of scholarly ethics not on the academic accepting or refusing to become a "henchman", rather than on their carrying out and publishing research?

Have you heard of Trofim Lyssenko? And Soviet geneticists who suffered and died for doing forbidden science? This is what happens when certain kind of research is favoured by a regime.

Ironically, his research was about the power of the ENVIRONMENT over genes. Sovjets hated Darwinism,

Yes, I know. This is why under Stalin children of executed dissidents were taken away, reeducated to love Regime, their identity was erased. Under this Hungarian school of thought, you must execute entire family.

Since when has studying the relationship between genes and behaviour been a "Hungarian school of thought"? As far as I know, it is an avenue of research pursued daily by biologists throughout the world
