I'm confused as to why they only tested women and not men. If there's a gender difference, wouldn't it be best to study both men and women? If there isn't a gender difference, wouldn't that add to our understanding of human behavior as a whole to study both?

True, but they argue that women contributed more to the growth of luxury consumption over the past decade. Also female luxury product use is the greater puzzle, as it is hard to see how it could benefit mating, as men tend not to go for status in mate choice.

Entirely unsurprising. The high also wears off and then you have to buy more for that "superior" feeling, but it gets old and then the emptiness sets in. The opposite was true for me, second hand/eco friendly bags can make you feel resourceful, giving and content.
