"Sentience extends to cows, chicken, pigs & even fish. These are beings with a consciousness. I have another question - 86% of vegetarians return to eating meat - within the time frame of the typical research. But how many in their lifetime?

Probably most, but vegetarianism is an untenable moral position to begin with. I'd like to see a study on vegans, and how long someone has to be vegan, on average, before they are likely to stick with it permanently.

In the study I referred to, 70% of vegans had returned to eating meat, but I saw no indication of the length of adherence.
