Here is a potential reason for the surprising difference in gender identity among the pair of identical twins from the above tweet. https://www.psychologie-heute.de/familie/40249-die-besonderen-zwillinge.html#page …pic.twitter.com/sr7ba3HmbI

Identical twins having (to a degree) different personalities is normal https://drive.google.com/open?id=1RqsmwVj-VDcp7TbXBHoiW8xsPBGprIdv … Them having different gender is special.

OK, geneticists (and Bayesians) out there. Does this provide evidence for or against transgenderism being genetic? If not genetic, then what? And any legal or social consequences of that?

I think Kevin Mitchell https://twitter.com/WiringTheBrain  could say something. Prenatal non-shared fluctuations in a genetically programmed switch controlling gender identity?

What do you mean by "virtually identical" genes? Which genes differ?

Identical twins do have genetic differences https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/identical-twins-genes-are-not-identical/ … The great Scott Turow has even based an amazing crime novel on this https://www.amazon.com/Identical-Scott-Turow/dp/145552722X …

It poses a question: Why has evolution allowed gender identity to be influenced by other factors apart from genetics, given its importance for reproductive success?

Yentl and Laura are identical twins. Laura has mental issues, probably caused by jealousy of parental resources since a young age, exacerbated by the fact her sibling is the exact copy of her.
