Interesting. I wonder if there is an inversion of this effect over time: I recall a study finding that long-term solitude leaves people less likely to enter into relationships, once a person has adapted to being alone?

So I'm alone because no one's standards are as low as me, got it.

I've always wondered what is driving down other people's standards; it seems so innate to be attracted only to actually attractive people. I guess natural selection gave most people other innate drives (loneliness and children) to make sure they settle.

It seems the remedy is to look at intention/your heart. Are we seeking relationship to avoid loneliness or to gain (good) companionship?

That is not how markets work. If I am driving a ratty old Toyota instead of a Beamer it is not because I settled on the first car in the lot out of fear of not having transportation.
