Top income women in Sweden show mate preferences that are rather different from those of their male peers. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S004727271930177X …pic.twitter.com/4ma3Z1UWKV

The possibility of the man asking for a divorce because the status of his wife seems high to him, is also hypergamy? It is curious that the richest man is dating someone with a lower income, but the richest woman is dating men who are just as rich. But it's all hypergamy...

Where does it say men want divorce when their wife gets promoted? Your second sentence just reinforces my point. If hypergamy isn’t true, why are married top income women much more likely to have a partner that is also at the top, unlike men?

Occam’s Razor. I think it’s more parsimonious to say that if women prefer not to marry down, it also makes sense they prefer not to STAY married down. If you wanna add extra reasons, that’s on you to show.

You infer preferences with data that does not show preferences. Occam's razor can't be apply here because we don't know who initiate the divorce and why. Everything else is projecting bias.

Basic result from evolutionary psychology studies: Status only enhances the sex appeal of men, not of women. It is not a criterion men consider in mate choice, they may actually prefer lower status women.

That doesn't explain the reason behind the divorce. Rich men can prefer low status women but younger and attractive and they initiate the divorce.

To choose another young partner, as in serial monogamy.

Serial monogamy increases reproductive success in men but not women. Maybe because men choose younger/fertile women and the dumped woman is less likely to conceive at her reproductive decline. Not sure if that’s the MOST common reason in the tweet I linked tho.

Why serial monogamy does not increase the reproductive success in women?
