According to the "sexy son" hypothesis, female animals chose flamboyant mates, whose aesthetic spell is passed to their male descendants, ensuring reproductive success. In humans, men go for attractive females, who bear them sexy daughters. https://books.google.de/books?hl=de&lr=&id=yQBeAQAAQBAJ&oi=fnd&pg=PP1&dq=%22sexy+daughters%22&ots=rqlTGSEdNP&sig=FI_DKyaNdxBhv-NQy-3mmz40sak#v=onepage&q=%22sexy%20daughters%22&f=false …pic.twitter.com/rVDDfnx5M4

IMO these sort of ideas overemphasize impact of attractiveness on reproductive success across cultures (compared to say foraging ability or kin identity, which seem equally or more important), n such models often assume unrealistic levels of reproductive variance for our species

Isn't that assuming that it is affected by multiple genes? If it's just one or a few genes then it's quite possible your children will have that big nose. I think we've seen this effect. See Bruce Willis' children with his jaw/face.
