Interesting. I wonder if it's intrinsically tied to religion, or if it's any sort of ideology that supports this. Does it hold through multiple religions?

Eh, I’d rather see a controlled evaluation of their empathy. I grew up in the church. In group out group is going to have a huge effect on their perceived empathy. Those in their social group will receive more empathy, and will also perceive receiving more.

I’d want to see a study where strangers evaluate their empathy. Especially when it comes to different groups. People of color. People of different religions. Sexual orientations. Social status. And then see how that differs from control groups.
