I have no interest in the paranormal/transcendental. I just tend to notice that the denial of free will always boils down to "there is determinism out there, so no free will". People mistake determinism for a proved theory, while it is unprovable, just an evolved assumption.

The physics that underpins determinism lets us accurately send space vehicles millions of miles away from Earth. What is the best alternative to determinism?

Determinism cannot be "proved", it is an innate rational instrument that works, but must not be "true".

The counter arguments in this piece are *all* vague and speculative, in contrast to the transparent original experiment - is this really all the free will believers have come up with in decades? (A really surprised reader.)

1/2 sec delay seems a long & oft unrealistic respond time for many dangerous situations.Irregardless what's needed are involuntary correlate of awhareness to more accurately benchmark initial action recognition. High res MRI or CAT should sub for EEG in detecting neural activity.

Alfred R. Mele produced a good book in which he shows many of the flaws associated with the experiment, if anyone's interested. Free, Why Science Hasn't Disproved Free Will - Oxford University Press. He also talks about more recent experiments in the same vein, very interesting
