Good news for the future when jobs will dissapear due to automation/robotisation. We might not need employment in order to be happy. As long as we find a way to fund such a system...

Right. That's what I was thinking too. This is a surprisingly common argument that people have when discussing the consequences of automation.

The bears out my personal experience. Being unemployed without knowing how to pay bills long-term was awful. Being unemployed because I don't need the income has significantly decreased the stress in my life and made me a better parent. Personal experience, so YMMV.

The direction of causation here is not clear (at least from the abstract). I suspect lack of material deprivation is a manifestation of whatever is causing them to be resilient to unemployment, rather than a cause.

The financially well off may welcome unemployment as a respite or time to seek a better job. Lower income earners barely make ends meet while working and suffer while living on unemployment (less than wages) especially if one cannot find another job as payments are running out.
