Iyer et al (2012) is one of them. The "cognitive reflection task" in Iyer et al was only three questions. https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0042366 …pic.twitter.com/qF5kNUnpLN

These studies always strike me as goofy. It’s little wonder that adherents of a more fringe ideology that most people receive minimal ambient exposure to score better. I’m sure given the more fringe/academic bent of us marxists they’d score better still.

i get that this study might be a part of a broader experiment. but what exactly does this say about anyone or anything? If anything, that there are fewer overall libertarians and therefore they have a few less idiots than the other groups? idk.

I've not read the study, but I have a plausible hypothesis: libertarians usually are far more sceptical about power and political authority, and that may require more "critical thinking ability" than having blind faith.

Imagine thinking this means anything.

Find a study that disconfirms this.

According to this figure and the political compass, I have the lowest score among the four. Great.
