Plastic bags aren't necessarily a climate change related matter. In fact there have been arguments that in some cases seemingly more "environmental friendly" packaging is actually more energy and carbon intensive than cheap, light single use plastic.

I came here to say that. Also, biodegradable products might actually increase emissions of greenhouse gases compared to non-biodegradable, don't they?

Loyalty cards are for dupes. One wonders how many savvy enough to reject data tracking devices are wasteful enough to use disposable product when already in possession of bags? I find that most people are aligned in those perspectives.
