@NickWolfinger Any thoughts on this? Would be interesting to this in study in multivariate analysis comparing income, ideological polarity, and parental investment.

& there are def studies of ideology and parental investment, but I don't know what's new here.
In addition to what @davidmanheim said, one thing I recall from anthro class is that marriage is one of the few universal things across cultures. It would seem odd that everyone does it if it does not have some component of happiness.
