Why should it? Research must be hypothesis-driven, and that specific hypothesis had already been suggested by preliminary investigations by Eysenck years ago.

It makes it more understandable, but not something we should respect either. Perhaps more patience is called for, but that’s it.. We don’t let people off for stealing who arguable, have inherited kleptomaniac tendencies. Same principal.
