It's not very surprising. The whole point of imagining a God is to put the human before the natural, to say that however grand Nature is, there is a mind, a person above it all. Thus morality and meaning the way our mind interpret them matter more than physics.

For a substantial portion of religious believers, this is an incorrect interpretation. They don't believe that God cannot change moral precepts. Rather, they hold that God and morality are inseparable. Morality is an attribute of God, and God is what does not change.
