Classical psychology finding, suggesting that conservatives have a stronger physiological response to threats, is thrown over by the second failed replication within a week. https://psyarxiv.com/vdpyt/  First: https://twitter.com/DegenRolf/status/1142073296156073985 …pic.twitter.com/O2c6E8G46o

Widely trumpeted findings about differences in brain function between liberals and conservatives may also likely turn out to be a no-brainer. https://ecommons.luc.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?referer=https://t.co/lqBWJqbsMf&httpsredir=1&article=3298&context=luc_diss …pic.twitter.com/focLrNLSPL

It is a classic of political psychology, widely cited in the scientific and popular literature and the media.

I'm confused here. Bayesian (and frequentist!) analysis will ALWAYS show Pr(correlation = 0) = 0 because Pr(X = x) = 0 for all continuous random variables X. This means the posterior probability an effect is not exactly zero is 1. So, the magnitude is INFINITE, not ~8-fold.

This is interesting. All my rightwing friends are terrified of germs, and well, everything. If they do not like an idea, it is a lie, but if they like it, it is true. More testing!

Classical might be putting it a bit strong. Closer to a romantic notion. Wrong but wromantic.

I don’t think ppl should say libs vs cons Maybe the more accurate description btw the two are 1. mentally secure in trusting the world’s ppl have positive potential (which tends to be liberals), vs 2. mentally INSECURE in trusting the world (what we currently call conservatives)
