This belief would have to originate from somewhere, though? If women who have lip augmentations feel that it helps them due to the supply/demand thing, then they might tell that to others and thus create this belief more generally?
I think it's more likely blind imitation. Celebrities start the trend and others follow suit assuming it's something they should also be doing. This study makes perfect sense to me personally, I've always thought this procedure makes people look worse, guess I'm not alone.
