Men show greater variability in a broad spectrum of of morphological, social, and cognitive traits and in life outcomes than women, making them more likely to end in the upper and lower extremes. Lending credence to a basic evolutionary tenet. http://evostudies.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Geher-et-al_Vol8Iss1.pdf …pic.twitter.com/cAihmMd3fE

But aren't these two different phenomena/mechanisms? Variation in RS = selection, which reduces not increases variability in the relevant trait. GMV in traits is just a nonadaptive byproduct of Y-degradation isn't it?

Also, women show greater variability in sex drive, sexual oroentation and some other things. Some greater male variability, like in height and iq, can be due to more risk-taking during development.

Not only men, but all males from other species, as it is predicted by the evolutionary theory of asymmetry by V. Geodakyan.

The subject is still taboo -- you can easily lose your job over claiming biological sex differences (Damore, Summers) -- but being female is worth fewer diversity points than being a POC, so the taboo is weaker.

Ur post implies greater male variability is likely a result of reproduction investment differences, but below is a pretty thorough paper that shows that in species where the female has different chromosomes, then female has greater variability.http://bit.ly/2Mg9V0k
