Not quite right Rolf: People resort to POLITICS BY OTHER MEANS. Just as under democracy they resort to profiting by non-market means; and under democracy democracy drives conflict in a heterogeneous polity, generating demand for authority: power by other means.

Perhaps it’s time to revisit the universality of self-uncertainty (Mischel,’99). The same psych distress & withdraw behavior occurs elsewhere in life when people receive no info/ambiguous feedback about themselves (exercise, relationships & while awaiting medical intervention).
