Counter to widespread scaremongering, the vast majority of internet users are not susceptible to fake news, echo chambers and filter bubbles. https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3316768 …pic.twitter.com/ZmalVekkSR

I'd be careful not to state such claims so definitively. New research by John Bates Clark award winner Matt Gentzkow and coauthors: Facebook causes polarization (and decreases subjective well-being) http://web.stanford.edu/~gentzkow/research/facebook.pdf …

The scaremongers are far more vociferous with their claims. I have posted in recent years a plethora of high quality studies demonstrating that claims are overstated, amounting to a moral panic. And to condescension: It is always about the "others", the dumber ones

Thx, see your pt re hyperbole, but doesn't mean new media isn't partly responsible for growth in affective polarization etc, so think we should be careful not to imply this. Note @jack (who has more data than any researcher!) believes in echo chambers!https://twitter.com/d_f_stone/status/1088435993735323648 …
