I know all these objections, had them myself before I studied behavior genetics. The only methods that can exactly pinpoint these effects are used in this research. And the findings overturn everything. I advise you heartilly to have a look at this.

In general terms: The studies that say otherwise are all bad science! They fail to take genetic confounds into account. This was stressed just yesterday:https://twitter.com/DegenRolf/status/1087650410637213697 …

The problem is, they may make "some" impact, but not in a systematic cause-effect way, but filtered through offspring's genetic individuality. From man outside view, this would amount to randomness.

If you have several siblings, you know firsthand the central result of behavior genetics: Same parents don't cause same characteristics in different offspring. It is hard to swallow, but that is the state of the science.

imagine those same siblings with loving parents. and then with a single struggling parent.

The central and regularly confirmed finding from behavioral genetics is that parenting is overrated. What counts is genes and idiosyncratic experiences. For a starter, read my review: https://plus.google.com/101046916407340625977/posts/NzThLg3Tz5v …

I strongly disagree. please explain the wide divergence in outcomes in single parent and two parent households in the US. Yes, genes count. but nothing replaces two loving and hard working parents.

as a Christian I say bravo. Having two hard working and loving parents in the home to raise a child is a must, no matter the sex. single parent homes can put a child at such a disadvantage in life. society doesn't seem to care though. no outcry at all.

I wouldn't disagree with you on this point. and would be suspicious that the study pushed towards a preferred conclusion. like so many studies these days.
