what about ketosis. That stuff makes your brain lighten up like a torch

The lightening up of brain areas in brain scans doesn't say much about individual neurons, whose participation can only be observed in single cell recordings - which specifically seem to have revealed the dark matter phenomenon.

Goddam it, I’ve been condescendingly correcting people about the 10% thing for years.

Is this why crows are intelligent with tiny brains? They don't have this redundancy. A flying animal couldn't bear the cost (energy and weight) of non functional tissue.
-
Don't doubt the electrophysiology, but some conjectures seem like fairly wide stretch of the imagination. (Eg autism, schizophrenia, and others). Would love to see mult. functional imaging strategies correlated humans with said disorders. Links?

I'm skeptical too. "Unused" brain tissue has a heavy calorie requirement. Sounds unlikely.

AND cells can communicate non-neuronally.
