The best evidence about why the disposition for male homosexuality persists suggests that it confers fitness benefits on heterosexual individuals http://ojs.lib.umanitoba.ca/index.php/pmuser/article/view/619/722 …pic.twitter.com/gaZFLHFxpb

This study illustrates well the prime importance of first defining one's subject of study. Starting from the idea. here, that homosexuality in men is characterised by extreme feminity, rather than attraction to men, has flawed the work irrecoverably.

This one should be obvious. Framing homosexuality only in terms of reproduction, misses the value of hybrid thinking (feminine mind + male agency) as well as a bridge between male and female. It serves a benefit for the species, similar in its own way as menopausal women do.

Fascinating. I’d always wondered whether there was a group/tribe-level benefit through being able to have “extra” males in a tribe, who aren’t competing for the same females. Does that make sense?

Societal success in war conquest and administration has historically at times been associated with military infrastructures dominated by gay and bisexual men. Not much is known about the sexuality of the numerous Danubian Celtic units with Philip and Alexander III of Macedon.pic.twitter.com/oV2y9QVUJX

Here are the results from that twin study for heterosexuals with homosexual twins. Results are only significant for straight women with nonheterosexual twinspic.twitter.com/ivOyCWEuik

So wath did the authors of that study do? Well ran the data this time with different definitions and found a positive result. Problem is (n) this time was only 12. Sounds like p-hacking to me.pic.twitter.com/JHr1qosdYY
