Hi @DegenRolf it would be fantastic to know your thoughts on how content platforms like Netflix appeal to the human psychology differently and turn them into loyal subscribers? ( I am trying to write an article on this)

I believe target audience is young people who find it cool to discuss and recommend streaming series to others. It's like a chain reaction. Word of mouth publicity increasing the loyal customer base.

It has more first class Hollywood-style production qualities than traditional TV fare, with plots and characters developing over multiple installments rather than being exhausted in one show, allowing for more absorbing execution. That's also why it displaces book reading.

Agreed. The execution is important. On top of that analytics has a great role to play here. Companies like
@IMDb have great database for analysis of people's choices and psychology. Read here:https://www.cio.com/article/3207670/big-data/how-netflix-built-a-house-of-cards-with-big-data.html …1 reply 1 retweet 2 likes -

This new book recounts the development of the famous AI recommendation program at Netflix. https://mitpress.mit.edu/books/how-smart-machines-think … Still hard to say which components play which role for the commercial success of the enterprise.

Also possibly important: Because the system finances itself via subscriptions, creatives are not under the pressure to be successful with individual instalments, having more leeway for unfolding more complex narratives.
