Good point, though I know too little about the "laws" of reincarnation. Also, as gender nonconformity is seen very often in early development of homosexuals, I suspect the paper was secretly alluding to a new theory of homosexuality, which, given the state of affairs, is needed.

The concordance in monozygotic twins too low to explain this in terms of genes, and no other good evolutionary theory around. It is a puzzle!
