@TamaraPfeiler has done some work on the personality of vegetarians based on a large representative German sample, check this out: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0195666317305305 … - 1 more reply

"It is possible that individuals who are less well-adjusted may try to improve their well-being by [becoming vegetarian]" Seems more likely not wanting to cause harm in a global sense leads to both anxiety and vegetarianism.

where do the ppl in the studies come from? i'm not sure you'd get the same results from those whose cultures have vegetarianism/semi-vegetarianism more commonplace in the daily diet. going vegetarian doesn't necessarily have to mean depriving oneself from satisfaction.

Thanks. It's just a very western POV, the idea that vegetarianism=sad salads only all the time. I think the feelings described come from this depravity & dissatisfaction but again, veg food doesn't have to taste bad or even necessarily be healthy.

If you're used to eating meat, how do you replace that in your diet? Not easy to figure out on your own, but there's lots of tasty options out there (if you like Indian food u know what I'm talking about). More awareness could've affected the results too.

Me too, I was taught that no meal is complete w/o meat. But Ive been exposed to more Indian cuisine thru my bf so my thoughts about veg dishes have changed. I could live w/ vegetarianism on an Indian diet, everything tastes good. But I love steak too much.

(Reverse correlation. People choose body-religions because of stressors.)
