Retracting your hand is a reflex, NOT consciously commanded. It is a mainstake of cognitive dissonance theory that dissonance ONLY arises after actions that were initiated deliberately, implying consciously.

I find it hard to see, evolutionarily, why there should even be an after the fact necessity of consciously justifying actions if these actions were not consciously commanded in the first place. No need for cognitive dissonance if no cognitive action initiation.
