Many years ago, I watched a practical demonstration of priming by the mentalist @DerrenBrown that was pretty impressive and convincing. It's possible that it's merely tricky to reproduce, not actually bogus. And this goes for many other "un-reproducible" results in psychology.

If it's tricky to reproduce under controlled conditions, it will not work at all in the real world. Except with mentalists.
