To suggest this is like suggesting that honesty may do more harm than good. There are a number of styles and levels of contemplative practice currently lumped together as "mindfulness," but at their core they're exercises in paying attention & being less habitually distracted.

By and large (the various practices labeled as) "mindfulness" will make one more aware of experiential processes like those that constitute a stress response, and thereby in general afford more choice around whether or not, as it were, to "indulge" such a response.
