Hard to offer more than a few banalities. Seek people with similar interests, self-disclose a lot, share multiple activities, approach more strangers. Becomes harder after the 20s. A lot of how to literature out there, but can't vouch for soundness, eg. https://www.nbcnews.com/better/health/how-make-friends-adult-ncna860971 …

It might help establish hierarchical relationships, not exactly friendships. But that's probably what their real interest is. Who would openly agree to that? Having an Entourage instead of friends might be more healthy and attractive I guess.

The proposed result doesn’t really account for the fact that the people displaying status symbols might want to find friends that are displaying even more status symbols aka people highe up the hierarchy? You’re making yourself fit for comparison to higher status people.

Money and social status are 2 different things. Lower status people who are desperate for a higher standing often waste their limited resources on bling in a pathetic attempt to impress others. Sophisticated wealthy people are difficult to impress.pic.twitter.com/zdjqrb7SVK
